Meetingpoint: Flexibility
MEETINGPOINT can be freely configured to meet the specific needs of a team at any time. The structure of lists can be modified easily, and additional fields can be added as required. Views, which determine how list items are filtered and sorted, can also be customized and extended.
These customization capabilities are not limited to lists but also apply to document libraries and discussion forums. For example, documents can be extended with additional metadata such as status information or the associated project. The ability to add references to other MEETINGPOINT content as list fields provides further flexibility. Documents and discussions can thus be linked directly to projects, tasks, contacts, or other information stored within the system.
In addition, MEETINGPOINT allows the creation of completely custom lists, document libraries, and discussion forums. This enables not only the adaptation of a MEETINGPOINT site to specific requirements but also the rapid assembly of simple applications that would otherwise require custom software development.
We demonstrate this capability with a basic software change management solution implemented entirely within MEETINGPOINT. Another example is a portal for internal knowledge management in an academic environment. Such organizations are often faced with highly distributed teams due to collaborations with other research institutions and students working remotely, making effective information sharing and coordination particularly important.
